Danny Hajjar joined us for a conversation about his migration story, activism, and passion for music, which all combined in founding the Newsletter, Sa’alouni El Nas. Danny champions MENA art and culture and Arab artists in the diaspora. His passion for engaging communities, advocating on behalf of MENA causes, and promoting leaders in our diverse communities was ignited at a young age and found its fullest expression in the newsletter, in part motivated by the Beirut blasts in 2020. Danny also spoke about his hopes for the future of Arab cultural recognition and representation, and of the promise of Moon Knight and its carefully curated music.

Danny is a media relations professional based in Washington, DC. An avid music lover, he is passionate about hip hop artists in the Middle East and North Africa and the growth of their music beyond the region. He curates music and stories in his weekly newsletter “Sa’alouni El Nas”. You can follow Danny on Twitter @DanielGHajjar.

This is the fourteenth in a series of interviews with artists, academics, activists, and other migrants of (and in relation to) Egypt around the world. Check out previous conversations in the series and stay tuned for our next installment.
